Are photochromics the ultimate spectacle lenses?
Photochromic lenses automatically change from clear to dark
in the presence of ultraviolet (UV) rays. They adjust automatically to changing
light conditions—going from clear indoors to as dark as sunglasses in bright,
glaring sunlight. Photochromic lenses are indoor glasses and outdoor glasses,
all in one!
In many respects, photochromic lenses represent a pinnacle
achievement in lenses because now, photochromics are available as a
wide range of lens products. Standard single-vision lenses, bifocals, trifocals,
progressive lenses, shatter-resistant lenses, lenses that reduce glare or
increase clarity of vision, even scratch-resistant lenses—all are now available
as photochromic lenses.
